- 1936 Aerial photography of Adelaide,
SA (pdf,
2.0Mb)
In 1936, the Royal Australian Air Force
acquired black and white aerial photography of Adelaide. Although the
details of the camera used at the time have since been lost, SST has now
been able to fully orthorectify the imagery, making it fully GIS-ready.
- Firescar from the Burrungle bushfire, SA (pdf,
1.3Mb)
The fire occurred in early December
2006. This image was acquired ten weeks later in February 2007. The path
of the fire can clearly be seen. This image is a composite of over a
dozen images acquired from a small format aerial camera, flying at
approximately 3000 feet above ground level.
- Seagrass off the coast of the
Fleurieu Peninsula, SA (pdf,
181kb)
Seagrass is an important indicator of the health of the ocean, but
monitoring it can be difficult. Small format aerial photography offers
an ideal solution to seagrass mapping. This image was captured using a
specially designed camera set-up, in order to ensure maximum water
penetration.
- Vegetation patterns in Victoria/New
South Wales (pdf,
864kb)
Healthy vegetation, when viewed with near infrared light, appears red in
colour. The intensity of the "redness" can be used as a guide to the
health of the vegetation. This colour infrared image was captured with
the Redlake MS4100 multispectral camera as part of a vegetation health
mapping project.
